Los Angeles, Day 6: The Music Story
For our last day of photographing, the students went over to the music building on the Heart of Los Angeles campus. Our teams split into groups and photographed in different departments of the music program. There was a jazz band, a rock band and a youth orchestra. The students really had their work cut out for them: music is fun to listen to and see performed but it is particularly difficult to capture in an image. But our students took photographs that communicated the idea of students making powerful music. It helped that they looked at the subjects – the musicians – from every angle possible: from on top of chairs and under the drums, behind the saxophone player and from around a guitar.
