The adventure is just beginning! The day started with a mix of nerves and excitement when the guys arrived at the hotel lobby loaded with their suitcases, ready to dive fully into this experience. After leaving the luggage at the hotel, they headed towards the MARCO Museum to officially start our workshop.

To start with maximum inspiration, we all watched Fred Roberts’ slideshow together. Observing the work of a professional photographer of his level opened their eyes to the possibilities that the camera offers. After this introduction, and to break the ice a little, we organized a “Bingo” activity that turned out to be a total success; between laughter and jokes, the guys started to loosen up and connect with each other.

Continuing with the motivation, we projected the slideshow of the 2020 students. It was an important moment, since we let them know that that is our big goal for the end of the week: not only to take pretty photos, but to be able to tell a story through their images.

After the presentations, we returned to the classroom to form the definitive groups and each student received with excitement what will be their inseparable companion these days: their camera. We took a detailed tour of each of its parts, from the lens and the viewfinder to the buttons and settings. We were surprised to see how fast they caught on to everything; curiosity won them over and many were already getting ahead, moving settings and shooting their first photos by pure instinct.

To close the technical part, we had a brief introduction to Lightroom, the software that we will use to manage and edit their photos. Finally, we shared a delicious meal at the MARCO restaurant before returning to the hotel to rest. We leave very satisfied; today’s enthusiasm assures us that it will be a week full of incredible stories.

El día arrancó con una mezcla de nervios y emoción cuando los chicos llegaron al lobby del hotel cargados con sus maletas, listos para sumergirse de lleno en esta experiencia. Tras dejar el equipaje en el hotel, pusieron rumbo al Museo MARCO para dar inicio oficial a nuestro workshop.

Para empezar con la inspiración a tope, vimos todos juntos el slideshow de Fred Roberts. Observar el trabajo de un fotógrafo profesional de su nivel les abrió los ojos a las posibilidades que ofrece la cámara. Después de esta introducción, y para romper un poco el hielo, organizamos una dinámica de “Bingo” que resultó ser un éxito total; entre risas y bromas, los chicos empezaron a soltarse y a conectar entre ellos.

Continuando con la motivación, proyectamos el slideshow de los alumnos del 2020. Fue un momento importante, ya que les hicimos saber que ese es nuestro gran objetivo para el final de la semana: no solo tomar fotos bonitas, sino ser capaces de contar una historia a través de sus imágenes.

Después de las presentaciones, regresamos al salón para formar los grupos definitivos y cada alumno recibió con emoción la que será su compañera inseparable estos días: su cámara. Dimos un recorrido detallado por cada una de sus partes, desde el lente y el visor hasta los botones y ajustes. Nos sorprendió ver lo rápido que captaron todo; la curiosidad les ganó y muchos ya estaban adelantándose, moviendo configuraciones y disparando sus primeras fotos por puro instinto.

Para cerrar la parte técnica, tuvimos una breve introducción a Lightroom, el software que usaremos para administrar y editar sus fotos. Finalmente, compartimos una rica comida en el restaurante de MARCO antes de volver al hotel a descansar. Nos vamos muy satisfechos; el entusiasmo de hoy nos asegura que será una semana llena de historias increíbles.
