Today our students had to start the day earlier than normal, since before going to the museum for their last class they had to leave all their things in order for their departure from the hotel; perhaps a few more alarms rang this morning. It is impressive how fast these guys have advanced since the last time we saw them; they are truly great.
We breathe, we relax, and it is time to start the show; after gathering in groups, their task for today was to learn to create a slideshow with photographs they took the day before. Part of our objective for this advanced workshop is that upon finishing, they develop the skills to be able to create a slideshow from scratch, choose a title, cover, music, and a set of photographs that when joined transmit harmony and tell a story.
Today’s editing took up a large part of the morning; the classroom felt smaller and smaller, time ran slower, and the hearts of our students beat faster. And in a short time, it was already a battlefield: students debating the order of their photographs, the music that sounded best, and the great emotional process of detaching themselves from their works for the good of the story, still defending their favorites.
Despite the adversities, they achieved their goal in time and proper form, even with time to spare, and this is where we started to see their presentations. The result was amazing; everyone’s attention was on each slideshow as they were certainly mesmerizing. It was evident that they understood the assignment to perfection, even exceeding expectations; we had quite pleasant surprises, photos that seemed like music due to their good rhythm and fluidity; it was a great spectacle.
To end the day, the guys had a small ceremony, where they were recognized for their wonderful work and effort these days, because thanks to their great courage, intelligence, resilience, and dedication, now they also have enough tools so that wherever they go, it is possible for them to tell their story through their camera and their heart. And they will also have an audience that, always proud of what they achieved, will follow their trail, anxious to see their next story.
El día de hoy nuestros estudiantes tuvieron que empezar el día más temprano de lo normal, ya que antes de ir al museo para su última clase tenían que dejar todas sus cosas en orden para su salida del hotel, tal vez unas alarmas más sonaron esta mañana. Es impresionante lo rápido que han avanzado estos chicos desde la última vez que los vimos verdaderamente son geniales.
Respiramos, nos relajamos y es hora de comenzar con el show; después de juntarse en grupos su tarea del día de hoy fue aprender a realizar un slideshow con fotografías que tomaron el día anterior. Parte de nuestro objetivo para este taller avanzado, es que al finalizar ellos desarrollen las habilidades para poder realizar un slideshow desde cero, elegir título, portada, música y un conjunto de fotografías que al unirlas transmiten armonía y cuenten una historia.
La edición del día de hoy nos llevó gran parte de la mañana, el aula cada vez se sentía más pequeña, el tiempo corría más lento y el corazón de nuestros estudiantes latía más rápido. Y dentro de poco tiempo ya era un campo de guerra, estudiantes debatiendo el orden de sus fotografías, la música que sonaba mejor, y el gran proceso emocional de desapegarse de sus obras por el bien de la historia, aún así defendiendo sus favoritas.
A pesar de las adversidades, lograron su objetivo en tiempo y forma hasta con tiempo de sobra, y aquí es donde comenzamos a ver sus presentaciones. El resultado fue asombroso, la atención de todos estaba en cada slideshow pues eran ciertamente hipnotizantes. Fue evidente que entendieron la consigna a la perfección incluso superando la expectativa, tuvimos sorpresas bastante agradables, fotos que parecían música por su buen ritmo y fluidez, fue un gran espectáculo.
Para finalizar el día los chicos tuvieron una pequeña ceremonia, donde se les reconoció por su maravilloso trabajo y esfuerzo estos días, pues gracias a su gran valor, inteligencia, resiliencia y dedicación ahora también tienen las herramientas suficientes para que vayan a donde vayan, les sea posible contar su historia a través de su cámara y su corazón. Y también tendrán un público que siempre orgullosos de lo que lograron, les seguirá el rastro ansiosos por ver su próxima historia.
