Born and raised in Switzerland, Stefan has always had a strong interest for issues of cultural, political and social importance. He earned a degree in International Relations and worked for various NGOs as well as the United Nations.
In 2005 Stefan relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico in search of a change of pace and lifestyle. Inspired by the beauty and cultural diversity of New Mexico he decided to pursue his passion for photography.
Largely self taught, he received a scholarship at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and subsequently started working for them. For the past 4 years he has led and taught photography workshops in Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for the Santa Fe Photo Workshops and National Geographic. He also works as a freelance editorial and documentary photographer for various regional and national publications.
