I’ve been a photographer for so long that t’s difficult to remember how hard it was to grasp the concepts that our students are now wrestling with. All I remember is that it took me a long time to really understand some of these concepts. That depth of field is determined by the focal length of the lens, the relationships between the aperture of the lens vs the focal length of the lense, and the distances between camera, subject, and background. Or that blur can enter an image because of incorrect focus, movement of the subject, or even movement of the camera (likely because I’d had too much coffee). Well, it’s now the end of day two, we’re at full speed, and our students are already wrestling with these concepts!

In a typical workshop week we spend about 10 hours a day working with the students. While that’s not a TON of time, we’re able to get pretty far with these guys. And I think their work shows that their able to keep up.

Today was our last day of practice before we begin working on our story show for the week. Our schedule for this workshop has us going out first thing in the morning every day, and so the students are going to be up early, and we’ll be in the bus just after sun up. It’s been a very productive two days and we are excited to see what the students come up with this week. Hang on to your hats!
