Yesterday, one of our groups photographed in a small and locally famous tamale kitchen. Today we had those tamales for lunch and they were the best we’ve ever had! (I have three more tamales stuffed in my camera bag as I write this).

Today’s shoots were a lot better than yesterday’s. Groups were photographing a lot of different stories today and the weather was absolutely fantastic. Some students sat in on a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) class where local kids were building compressed air powered rockets while others photographed local skateboarders in the skate park. Other young photographers hung out in a teaching kitchen making tortilla soup while still others worked outside with the LA Rakers. The Rakers are a group of young people engaged in beautification and urban gardening projects in the neighborhood, and after several days of heavy rain, there was a lot of cleaning up to do. We took thousands of photos today and our nightly edit ran very late. But we had so many fun images to look at and such a great day that it’s worth being this tired!
