After a successful technical training day, we began our first day of class with a running start. The students came in, claimed their cameras and were ready to start learning.

The first day of instruction is always quite technical – our students are grappling with concepts such as aperture, depth of field, shutter speed and ISO. We spent the morning going over the basic controls of the camera and learning how to control the amount of light that hits the sensor to create an image.

In the afternoon, we went to the garden to practice photographing the plants and flowers. And we were surprised that by the end of the day, our students were attempting advanced techniques like spin blur and panning.

Since we were ahead of schedule, we pushed even further and taught the students how to export files and publish them. An incredible amount of ground was covered on our first day of class, and I’m excited to see where were going to go from here.
