Home > Lisbon Workshop > Lisbon 2018 – Beginner Day 1 – Finishing Up the Basics…

We’re well rested and ready to push on through the week!

The students came in today and we picked up right where we left off, introduction to the cameras! Wendy started by teaching the basics of camera mechanics; aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. By lunchtime these guys were up and running with their cameras fully on manual mode! We got the pretty typical photographs of flour, cracks in the sidewalk, close-ups of the tiles, but we also got a lot of great portraits…and even better, their exposures were pretty spot on. These guys seem to really understand the basics!

As you know if you’ve been following the blog for a while, these first two days are very technically intense. We typically spend around 12 hours a day in the classroom going over the basic concepts of photography. We’ve got to be up and running come Tuesday…so even though it’s exhausting for us all, we have to pack in a couple long days to make sure we’ve covered all the necessary ground. Given the kinds of images we saw today, we’ve got high hopes for their technical skills, now let’s see what they’ll come up with…
